Meet the artist January 11th, 2 - 4 p.m.
Andrew Johnson landed in Bellingham just over a year ago,
after a journey “Westward Ho!”. He was born and raised in
Central Wisconsin and has been creating art since he could pick
up a pencil. As a child, he discovered the art of comic books,
and you can still see their influence in his work today. A self
taught artist for many years, at the age of 25, he decided to
continue his education and expand his knowledge of art. At the
local community college, he studied classical oil painting, where
he traded his pencil for a paintbrush. He paints both from life
and from his imagination, with careful use of color and intense
attention to detail.
Andrew lives East of Bellingham with several “property mates,”
including humans, quadrupeds, and fowl. When he isn't
painting, he enjoys spending time with his sugar beet, Hollie and
their puppy, Larrabee, named after their first temporary home in
Whatcom County. He loves living in a rich arts community such
as Bellingham, where fellow artists are accessible and
welcoming. He hopes to continue his art studies and to always
experiment with new mediums and concepts.
